DAVIDSONS GARDEN DESIGN STUDIO

Urban Cottage

This was a project that was in Devon with a lovely family who were keen to grow a range of food for themselves while having a play area for the children and maintaining a contemporary modernist look for the garden reflecting the new renovation of the house.

The pergola was a contemporary design with inspiration from a trip to Morocco as well as Japanese influence. The slatted walls are on every other panel allowing for different views around and into the garden.

This delivered amazing shadows on the paving below since the slats were all along the top to provide shade for the client in the height of summer.

A veg area was requested and disguised in the North east corner of the garden with a Yew (Taxus baccata) hedge and similar slatted fence on the garden shed.

This garden was crafted with a definite draw to contemporary modernist style of architecture as well as planting. We had great fun choosing the pallet of plants for this garden.

We were focussed on creating something with form and structure but transitioning into the looseness of the surrounding area.

The front of the house was designed to be pleasing on the eye as you enter the house with soft curves allowing the flow of traffic to comfortably travel through the garden with ease.
