Much like fine wine, a well-made garden improves with time.

A design begins with what’s already there. We are a distinctly Jersey practice and appreciate the uniqueness of the island’s climate: its light, wind and exposure, its geology and the plants that thrive here.

DGD Studio has grown through teaching, apprenticeship and knowledge being shared between generations and developed through real work. David brings with him 30+ years of experience, and Wills, David’s apprentice for several years and now a graduate of the Oxford College of Garden Design, brings fresh, up-to-date design ideas and techniques.

Building the bones of the garden is the essential first step; having a clearly defined structure, softened by generous planting. We understand the importance of spending time on site, listening and testing ideas through drawings and refining the ideas together.

Beauty for us is not showy or imposed. It is found in balance, proportion and detail. Design, planting, aftercare and the education of your gardeners are parts of one continuous process. A successful garden is one that is of year-round interest and continues to give back.

We pride ourselves on thinking beyond the finished plan, how a garden will be cared for and the gardening team supported, in order that the original intent survives as the garden matures.
